Open Options to Exhibit at 2017 Campus Security Summit
Open Options is excited to be a sponsor of the inaugural Campus Security Summit to be held on November 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Irving, TX.
Hosted by Campus Security & Life Safety magazine, the Campus Security Summit is a one-day event for campus security and education officials to learn about new solutions and technologies for campus security practices and procedures, emergency response and management, and public and life safety. During the summit, attendees will have a rare opportunity to hear firsthand stories from police chiefs who are in charge of some of the largest school districts in Texas, as well as network and learn vital information from industry experts and each other on crisis communication, event security, the Clery Act and more.
Representatives from Open Options will be showcasing the user-friendly features of DNA Fusion and how it can provide a complete and scalable solution in any campus setting.

Opening Keynote
Chief Craig Miller of the Dallas ISD Police Department is the opening keynote for the summit. He will discuss the state of public education school safety in campuses, and will compare how municipal police SROs (School Resource Officers) and ISD police departments conduct their jobs.
Understanding the Clery Act
Alison Kiss, executive director of the Clery Center, will speak about the foundations of the Clery Act and discuss how colleges and universities can apply them. During the presentation, participants will have a chance to analyze requirements of the Clery Act and receive ideas for planning and implementation of the law.
Active Shooter & Emergency Communication/Response
Campus Security Consultant Patrick Fiel will be discussing emergency communication and incident response, highlighting ways to help campus administrators prepare for any special events such as sporting events, concerts or any activities that bring in large crowds to their schools or campuses, as well as provide information on how schools can identify potential shortfalls in their campus security. Fiel will also be speaking at a session regarding active shooter preparedness and how to handle an active shooter situation prior to police arrival.
Event Security, Tips & Tactics
Joseph Parks, executive director of safety and security, Plano ISD, will present information on established security procedures and safety measures for incidents that may happen on campus, as well as issues relating to safety planning and preparedness.
